PETALING JAYA, April 30 (Bernama) -- Schneider Electric today launched its new EVlink Pro DC, a 180 kilowatt (kW) direct current (DC) fast EV charger and its first public electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in Petaling Jaya.
The initiative is in partnership with JusEV, a local charging network operator, specialising in electrical vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) for home, public and commercial segments.
Schneider Electric and JusEV also entered into an agreement to install over 100 chargers, with 10 per cent being DC fast chargers, in both private and commercial buildings by 2024.
The new EV charging hub located at Plaza 33 will be operated by JusEV.
Schneider Electric country president for Malaysia Eugene Quah said that with almost 90 per cent of EV charging anticipated in buildings, the launch of Schneider’s first public EV charging hub together with their partner JusEV represents a step towards the development of sustainable transportation infrastructure in Petaling Jaya.
“At Schneider Electric, we are committed to contributing to the decarbonisation efforts of Malaysia’s mobility sector. Our commitment lies in facilitating the widespread adoption of EVs through accessible and efficient charging solutions.
“We are confident that this strategic endeavour is in alignment with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), which aims to establish 10,000 EV charging points nationwide by 2025," Quah said in his speech during the launching ceremony.
He said Schnieder Electric’s EVlink Pro DC is ideal for deployment in commercial buildings, fleet depots, and industrial premises.
“Its seamless integration with Schneider Electric’s energy efficiency solutions ensures that building owners and fleet operators gain better visibility, control and energy efficiency.
“The chargers also come with support services from worldwide network of skilled technicians to ensure optimal operation and maintenance of the EV infrastructure. The EVlink Pro DC facilitates an 80 per cent charge completion within 20 minutes,” he said.
Managing director of JusEV Charging Network, Jason Wong said the collaboration marked a significant milestone in the company’s mission to drive growth within the EV industry.
As the first approved EVLink Installer for Schneider Electric, JusEV is honoured to pioneer the collaboration in driving the adoption rate of EVs in Malaysia, he said.
“By synergising our expertise and resources, we aim to create a more conducive environment for individuals and businesses to transition towards sustainable transportation solutions,” he said.
Meanwhile, Plaza 33 general manager Tan Kok Leong said the collaboration between Schneider Electric and JusEV aligns with the company’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve in meeting the evolving needs of their tenants and customers.
“We recognise the increasing demand for EVs and aim to provide convenient and sustainable solutions that support the transition to cleaner transportation options. We are thrilled to be partnering with a forward-looking company like Schneider Electric to drive forward our shared vision of a more environmentally friendly future,” he said.
The EVlink Pro DC features scalable power options ranging from 120kW to 150kW and 180kW, allowing for dynamic simultaneous charging of two vehicles to optimise power usage efficiency.
It integrates with EcoStruxure EV Charging Expert, a load management system to intelligently allocate energy from the building to the EV charging stations in real time that ensures maximum efficiency while also enhancing uptime and dynamically regulating charger outputs, addressing any concerns about overloading from EV owners.
