Tnb Mobilises 9,400 Employees To Ensure Stable Electricity Supply During Aidilfitri

KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 (Bernama) -- Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) will be mobilising a total of 9,400 employees throughout Peninsular Malaysia.to ensure stable electricity supply during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season.

TNB chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Majid said rostering and standby assignments would be carried out at power stations, control centres and the entire service chain including the grid and substations, to ensure smooth transmission, distribution of electricity supply and customer service readiness.

"Although these tasks are the daily routine of the employees in their respective service departments, it is their sacrifice for the people who will be happily celebrating Aidilfitri with their families, as they will be on field duty," he said in a statement here today.

In the same statement, TNB President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Baharin Din said the mobilisation of the high a number of employees was done taking into account the critical period of 72 hours which is three days, starting the day before the beginning of Syawal (first day of Aidilfitri).

He said this was due to the expected increase in the use of electricity by the public to make final preparations to celebrate the festival.

"Monitoring in each state, especially in the technical aspects, would also be increased ahead of Syawal on the expectation that people will return early to their hometowns and those who take the opportunity to travel in conjunction with the public holidays," he said.

Meanwhile, to appreciate the contribution of the 9,400 employees involved, TNB also presented kuih raya (Raya cookies) prepared by the TNB Women's Association (Pelitawanis) from the branches around Peninsular Malaysia.

The cookie packs were distributed to TNB division heads at a ceremony held at TNB Headquarters, Bangsar here recently.
