KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 (Bernama) -- Scomi Group Bhd’s (SGB) joint-venture company Scomi SGSB Sdn Bhd has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Skill Johor Sdn Bhd (SJSB) to develop a renewable energy (RE) generation program in SJSB’s TVET Campus in Johor.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, SGB said Scomi SGSB would be providing the installation, testing and commissioning of the solar photovoltaic (PV) system.
“Scomi SGSB has conducted several site visits and technical assessments, and had determine that solar PV system provides the best solution to generate RE, while mitigating the rising energy cost of the campus over a period of 21 years and the campus has the potential capacity to accommodate up to 4 megawatt peak (MWp),” it said.
It said both Scomi SGSB and SJSB would collaborate for the implementation of the proposal which includes the implementation of phase one of the rooftop solar PV system with the capacity of 1.18MWp and pursue the development of an additional 3MWp upon successful implementation of phase one.
“Installation of the solar PV system works can only commence once the campus is operational which is scheduled to be between the fourth quarter of 2023 (Q4 2023) to Q1 2024,” it said.
The group also said that the collaboration would commence from the date of the MoU for 24 months subject to any extended period to be mutually agreed.
“The MoU has no effect on the share capital and substantial shareholders’ shareholdings of SGB and not expected to have a material effect on the earnings per share, net assets per share and gearing of SGB for the financial year ending June 30, 2022,” it added.
