TNB to provide RE solutions for SP Setia's new projects

PUTRAJAYA, April 12 (Bernama) -- Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) will provide smart energy and renewable energy (RE) solutions as the main source of electricity in SP Setia Bhd’s new residential and commercial development projects.

“What we intend to do is that we want to ensure the new rooftop will be equipped with solar panels, meaning that users can already get the benefit of solar on the roof from the first day they receive their home.

“The premises will be designed to support EV charger installation when the owner intends to install it later,” chief retail officer Datuk Ir Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan said after signing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) here today.

SP Setia was represented by its chief executive officer Datuk Choong Kai Wai.

Witnessing the event were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Energy Commission chief executive officer Abdul Razib Dawood, Permodalan Nasional Bhd chief executive officer Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn, SP Setia Chairman Tan Sri Syed Anwar Jamalullail and TNB Chairman Datuk Seri Hasan Arifin.

Meanwhile, Choong said the company’s new development project would be solar-ready, battery-ready and electric vehicle (EV)-ready.

“We plan to launch RM4 billion gross development value this year and it is our intention to equip part, if not all, with this new green solution.

“We create a new benchmark for homes in Malaysia with these actions, cultivating green lifestyles,” he said.

He added that the green solution would have minimal impact on the price of SP Setia’s houses.

The MoU involves the installation of a photovoltaic (PV) solar system on the roof, the provision of battery solution installation and the provision of EV charging facilities in SP Setia’s new residential and commercial development project.
