NEA 2022 offers 20 awards for innovative sustainability projects, initiatives

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 -- The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA) is making a final call for submissions to the National Energy Award (NEA) 2022, to encourage the adoption of the sustainable energy practices.

NEA 2022 will offer a total of 20 awards across three categories.

In highlighting the significance and relevance of the NEA, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the impact of climate change has reached unprecedented levels, and today, people need sustainable energy technologies and solutions that can mitigate climate uncertainties and reduce its impacts on the environment.

“The ministry believes that our local efforts and talents need to be recognised and rewarded to drive greater adoption of sustainable energy solutions in the country.

“Given NEA's success in showcasing the best practices of sustainable energy in Malaysia, I urge all those who are eligible to participate and share your success stories with a wider audience.

“In many ways, platforms such as NEA elevate Malaysia's competitiveness and presence in the global sustainable energy landscape, now and for years to come,” he said in a statement today.

The award is open to eligible Malaysian residences, companies, and organisations including institutions of higher learning which have undertaken renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy management, and energy performance contracting projects or initiatives.

Besides having two new awards for residential green buildings and zero energy buildings, a dedicated category has also been created to recognise the efforts of financial institutions in sustainable energy financing.

Since the inaugural NEA in 2018, the awards have recognised close to 100 organisations at the forefront of growing the nation’s sustainable energy sector.

Over the past four years, the NEA has seen increasing participation from Malaysian stakeholders with over 645 organisations submitting entries and competing for cash prizes worth RM40,000 for award winners while runners-up stand to win RM15,000.

Additionally, the winners stand a chance to represent Malaysia at the prestigious ASEAN Energy Awards (AEA).

All submissions for NEA 2022 must be received before Feb 25. For further information visit www.nationalenergyawards.com.my
