Serba Dinamik in collaboration to develop Malaysian e-sports industry

SHAH ALAM, April 30 --  Serba Dinamik  Group Bhd is collaborating with key national e-sports stakeholders to jointly develop an e-sports development centre, Selangor Esports City, which is expected to be operational next year.

Today, it inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Malaysia Esports Federation (MESF), Esports Selangor Association (ESS) and University Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineering (UNIMY) for the purpose.

The company’s group chief executive officer, Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah, said Selangor Esports City would offer world-class e-sports facilities, training academy, game incubator as well as an e-sports-themed hotel.

“Through this collaboration and with the support of these key stakeholders,  Serba Dinamik  aims to bring homegrown e-sports talent to the international stage by leveraging on world-class infrastructure, talent development programme and talent profiling system,” he said during the MoU signing ceremony here.

According to him, e-sports is a global phenomenon. He cited a Newzoo research that found Southeast Asia generated game revenues of US$4.4 billion for the year 2019/2020, an impressive year-on-year growth of about 16 per cent.

“With so much potential for e-sports to grow big in this country, we at  Serba Dinamik  feel the time is ripe for us to get involved in it,” he added.
