KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 -- SCIB Properties Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (SCIB), has clinched a RM135 million engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract.
SCIB said the letter of award (LOA) from Puncak Gemilang Melati Sdn Bhd was for Phase 1 of the proposed Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Programme (PPAM) in Muallim, Perak.
The 26-month contract would run from April 1, 2021, to June 1, 2023, the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
The scope of the LOA includes overall earthwork, infrastructure and building as well as mechanical and engineering works and ancillary works.
"Any profits attributable to the group would be realised in stages over the tenure of the contracts based on the progress of the projects," it said.
In a separate statement, SCIB group managing director and chief executive officer Rosland Othman said the contract set a new milestone for the company as it expanded its construction activities into the peninsula in the affordable housing segment.
"We are committed under the umbrella of PPAM and PR1MA in assisting the government to provide affordable housing for the Bottom 40 and Middle 40 income groups especially during this difficult economic period for many.
“Our Industrialised Building System (IBS) capability and 3D printing technology also gives us an edge in the construction of affordable housing due to cost savings. The IBS leverages on our building materials manufacturing arm that is tried and tested," he added.
