Samaiden secures maiden EPCC biomass plant contract worth RM115.6 mln

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 -- Samaiden Group Bhd has secured a RM115.6 million contract from BTM Resources Bhd's unit BTM Biomass Products Sdn Bhd to develop a 10MWac biomass renewable energy (RE) power plant in Teluk Kalong, Terengganu.

The 23-month project, which is scheduled to begin on Jan 2 next year, will be Samaiden's first engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) project involving biomass RE power plant.

“This project is a testament to Samaiden’s ability and experience to undertake EPCC projects not only with solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants and rooftop systems, but also in the area of biomass plants.

“With the global shift towards RE, we look forward to securing more projects of such nature in the near future,” Samaiden group managing director Ir Chow Pui Hee said in a statement today.

The scope of work includes EPCC works, reliability test and remedy of defects during the defect liability period, as well as provision of equipment in connection with the project.
