Serba Dinamik expands 'care team' CSR programme globally

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 --  Serba Dinamik  Holdings Bhd is expanding its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme under the ‘‘Serba Care Team” campaign globally, focusing on three key sustainability activities -- safety and health, education development and green environment.

Its group managing director and group chief executive officer, Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah, said during the first phase of Serba Cares global campaign, it will support the indigenous people of guinea and Senegal by providing over 20,000 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE), other medical supplies, face masks and infrared thermometers worth up to almost RM1 million.

It has also embarked on a strategic collaboration with Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank to produce medical supplies as part of the Serba Care Team CSR programme in addressing world health problems such as the COVID-19 pandemic, he said in a statement today.

In addition, he said, the group has rolled out aid of almost RM1.5 million for the CSR programme to provide PPE and other medical supplies to a few hospitals in Malaysia since March 28, 2020, to help in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

These hospitals include Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Hospital Serdang, Hospital Selayang and Hospital Sungai Buloh, Mohd Abdul Karim said.

"Serba Care will also be focusing on the important touch points of society to help overcome the pandemic while building a strong nation," he said.

Meanwhile,  Serba Dinamik  also rolled out activities to strengthen the group’s Care Team in supporting its employee’s dependents with academic curriculum to keep up with their ongoing academic session. For the 2019 batch, three students were selected and for the year 2020, 13 students were chosen for the programme.

Moving forward, he said more activities will be targeted and planned such as collaborations with the MARA Education Foundation and school adoption programme in rural areas.

"The  Serba Dinamik  Care Team has already mobilised their activities in the communities in which we operate including Bintulu, Miri, Paka, Labuan and Kuala Lumpur, as well as, in Indonesia. Part of our contributions also go to supporting institutions such as orphanages and non-profit government organisations," he said.

He said the quest for sustainability will always be an essential part of the company’s agenda, aligned with the group’s statement of purpose based on balancing the need to generate economic value against nurturing the environment and contributing to society for a sustainable future.

"Guided by the three sustainability activities, we must endeavour to progress together along this path with a high level of commitment and passion so that  Serba Dinamik  continues its journey for generations to come," he added.

Serba Dinamik  also provides immediate relief to families and individuals in need particularly to the B40 (low-income group) communities in Sarawak.
