Enhance Track to develop first wireless mobile charger in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 --  Enhance Track Sdn Bhd, one of NanoMalaysia Bhd's technology partners in driving the commercialisation of nanotechnology, has completed a prototype of a radio frequency wireless mobile phone charger known as Malaysian Energy Transmission Technology (METT).

The charger, which is the first of its kind in Malaysia, enables remote contactless non-inductive charging over a range of several metres and has the ability to supply power for 5V-based mobile devices without the need for messy power cords and battery replacement.

One could walk into any zone with Wi-Fi and their phone would be charged automatically, managing director Benedict Foo said in a statement.

"Everyone today has a cellular phone, either for business or personal, they need an efficient system of charging their devices without being tethered to a wall. 

“This system enables cellular phones that can be fully used wirelessly for mobility and market demand is high,” he said.

METT is undergoing final optimIsation and improvement before it is expected to enter the market by mid-2021.

The product is expected to generate a revenue of close to RM1.9 billion and create up to 2,800 jobs.
