PORT KLANG, Dec 18 – The participation of Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd (Central Spectrum) as co-sponsor of the 'Tour de Selangor 2019' (TDS 2019) cycling race could help promote the Selangor Bio Bay (SBB) property in Pulau Indah, here.
Central Spectrum chief executive officer, Mohamad Razif Abdul Wahab said as a property developer at SBB, the company's involvement in the event could promote the potential location to attract international property investment.
“The sponsorship is our way of showing support for the Selangor government while promoting the real estate area in SBB.
"Through this cycling race, Central Spectrum will be the sponsor of the Raja Bukit jersey throughout the five stages of the race," he said here today.
Earlier, the flagging-off for the TDS 2019 participants was officiated by state executive councilor for Younger Generation, Sports and Human Capital Development, Mohd Khairuddin Othman.
Mohamad Razif said the development at SBB was a strategic initiative that aimed to boost growth of the biotechnology industry in Malaysia.
At the event, the Selangor Bio Bay exhibition gallery here also became the starting point of the first stage of TDS 2019 today, stretching 176.9 kilometres and ending in Batang Kali.
Meanwhile, Mohd Khairuddin said about 119 participants from 20 leading teams comprising local and Asian riders took part in this edition of TDS.
The event, he said, was part of the state government's efforts to enhance cycling athletes’ performance, and to produce more new talents that could potentially bring glory to Selangor and Malaysia in general.
The TDS 2019 runs from today until Dec 22, involving nine districts in Selangor including Pulau Indah, Cyberjaya, Subang, Selayang and Shah Alam with a total distance of 716 kilometres.
All riders will go through five stages of racing to win the championship jersey and as Overall Champion, Sprint King, King of the Hill and Best Young Rider.
This biennial event is organised by the Selangor State Sports Council with the objective of inviting more professional teams including from the International Cycling Union (UCI), to compete with national, state and club teams.
