KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 -- WZ Satu Bhd's subsidiary, WZS Biogas Jerantut Sdn Bhd, will supply green energy generated by its proposed biogas power plant in Jerantut, Pahang, to Tenaga Nasional Bhd for 21 years.
The civil engineering and construction group said it would gain RM3 million to RM4 million in revenue per year.
The proposed plant, which is due to start operation in January 2022, is expected to generate up to 1 MW per hour, which is equivalent to the usage of about 500-600 households per day.
In a statement, WZ Satu said WZS Biogas today signed a build–own–operate–transfer agreement with Kilang Kelapa Sawit Jerantut Sdn Bhd, marking its maiden involvement in the green energy sector.
WZS Biogas Jerantut (formerly Trillion Pentagon Sdn Bhd) received the approval in January this year to supply the green energy generated by the proposed plant. This was the result of its participation in an e-bidding process for the feed-in-tariff mechanism regulated and governed by Sustainable Energy Development Authority on Nov 30, 2018.
Meanwhile, WZ Satu's subsidiary WZS Powergen Sdn Bhd will supply the biogas engine system for the plant.
"WZS Powergen is able to provide the local industry with the knowledge and know-how in dealing with biogas generating sets and having an open sourced system, whereby the end users are able to maintain these units with their own maintenance teams.
"Hence, WZS Powergen is actively looking at increasing its green energy portfolio through green and brown field projects in Malaysia," the company said.
WZS Powergen also locally assembles specialised Zone 2 diesel generator sets for use in the explosion proof industry.
