Aerodyne to develop solutions for telecommunication industry

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12  -- Malaysia’s homegrown artificial intelligence (AI)-driven drone service provider, Aerodyne Group, is poised to develop specific solutions to uplift the operational efficiency of the telecommunication industry.

Chief executive officer Kamarul A. Muhamed said the telecommunication industry had mitigated safety risks by removing the need for technicians to perform tower climbs and conduct manual equipment inspection.

“The industry has a significant impact to economy, where the real value could be unlocked,” he told a media briefing here today.

Aerodyne's collaboration with integrated telecommunications infrastructure services company, edotco Group Sdn Bhd, has garnered tremendous benefits across multiple areas, including a 50 per cent improvement in reporting time and a 35 per cent reduction in inspection turnaround time resulting from faster data collation and report generation.

Edotco service excellence head Ashok Muthu said Aerodyne’s aerial capabilities boosted efficiencies in its daily operations such as infrastructure site audits, routine preventive maintenance surveys, network assessment and revenue assurance monitoring.

Meanwhile, Kamarul said the global drone industry was consolidating, with a few drone companies which had been operating for a long time being taken over or were closing down.

“But not us. We are growing from strength to strength,” he said, noting that Aerodyne was ranked third among drone service providers globally this year by DRONEII compared with being in the top seven last year.

The ranking was done using company size, market share and public attention as key parameters, according to DRONEII's website which also said Aerodyne had moved up thanks to strategic partnerships across the globe.

Kamarul said Aerodyne was targeting to acquire three more drone companies in a bid to expand further into promising industries such as engineering, mining, delivery transport, emergency as well as oil and gas.

However, he did not provide any detail, including the time frame.

As of 2018, Aerodyne had completed over 62,500 flight operations, inspected more than 265,500 assets and surveyed in excess of 55,000 km of power infrastructure.
