Grundfos' energy efficient pumping system to enter Malaysia by year end

Grundfos Regional Business Director for Asia Pacific Anders Christiansen shows the MAGNA3 pump installed at Grundfos Regional Headquarters in Singapore during the launch of the Distributed Pumping System Monday. The DPS which consist of two pumps-MAGNA3 and TPE3-is Grundfos latest innovative solution aimed to meet Asia’s sustainable cooling needs.

SINGAPORE, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Pump specialist, Grundfos is set to introduce its innovative Distributed Pumping System (DPS) for the Asian market that would help reduce up to 50 per cent in energy consumption from air-conditioning system compared to the current conventional methods.

Grundfos’ Regional Business Director for Asia Pacific Anders Christiansen said the DPS would be introduced in Singapore’s market first before planning to expand into Malaysia, India and Taiwan markets by year-end, followed by Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines next year.

Grundfos Asia Pacific anticipates that demand for distributed pumping systems would increase in the coming years as a result of greater demand for energy-efficient solutions, he said at a media briefing during the launch of DPS for the Asian region at Grundfos’ Regional Head office here, on Monday.

A first in the market,  he said DPS is a result of continuous research towards the needs to address the world’s increasing demands for cooling solutions without further impacting climate change.

Unlike methods currently available in the market he said, the new solution is capable of operating in optimised conditions in any time by intuitively regulating water flow and meeting requirements of different building zones based on feedback from temperature sensors, while ensuring a consistent building temperature at all time.

“Our Distributed Pumping System demonstrates our commitment to creating cleaner and more energy-efficient technologies to enable our customers to reduce their energy consumptions and limit their impact on the environment,” he explained.

The DPS consist of two pumps - the TPE3 and MAGNA 3 - which are fitted with built-in sensors, variable speed drive, controller and communication module, and the state-of-the-art IE5 motors - which served as the primary and secondary pump to provide cooling solutions while ensuring highest operating efficiency.

“The self-balancing nature of Grundfos’ DPS also means that control valves are not required, removing the need for tedious and time-consuming balancing which also reduces the costs of the initial installation,” he said.

He added that pilot projects which have been carried out at Grundfos head office and factory in Singapore as well as the Ngee Ann Polytechnic showed the system had significantly helped to achieve 55 per cent pump system kWH energy savings over a period of 7.5 months from Nov 2016 to May 2017.
