PLUS headquarters receives recognition for low carbon buildings assessment

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 -- PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) headquarters, Persada PLUS has received the One Diamond recognition, thus making PLUS the first highway concession company in this country to receive such recognition.

PLUS Managing Director Datuk Azman Ismail said the recognition from Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia which was recently awarded to Persada PLUS, located in Petaling Jaya, followed the success in releasing the carbon dioxide gas and savings in electric power.

He said last year the reduction of 6.75 per cent (equivalent to 286.78 metric tons) of carbon dioxide gas and savings of electric power of 413,228 kWh (kilowatthour) were achieved through various measures.

“They included the installation of the Variable Speed Drive (VSD) for the air conditioning system, reducing the use of the air conditioning system, developing the solar fotovolta technology, implementing de-lamping (reducing/relocating the use of fluorescent lamps at sufficient lighting areas and lamps were not required), installing motion sensor lights in the toilet and surau and so on.

“This achievement marked another success for PLUS to expand the Green Technology in efforts to conserve the environment for the community and our staff at the Persada PLUS building,”he said in a statement today.

Azman said PLUS began the green initiative with the launch of the first Electric Vehicle Charging Station based on the solar energy in Malaysia at the Restoran Jejantas Ayer Keroh (south bound) in December 2018.

“The use of the fotovolta solar energy for the same purpose was also started at the Machap Rest and Service Area (RSA) (north bound) beginning April this year.

“ ...and will be extended to other RSA such as the Restoran Jejantas Sungai Buloh, Restoran Jejantas Ayer Keroh, Dengkil RSA (north and south bounds), Gurun RSA (north and south bounds), Gunung Semanggol RSA (south bound), Tapah RSA (north and south bounds) and Ayer Keroh RSA (north bound) within the next five years,” Azman added.
