KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe will officiate the opening of a Malaysian-owned lubricant blending plant in Muthurajawela near Colombo on June 24.
Hyrax Oil Sdn Bhd (HOSB) group managing director Datuk Hazimah Zainuddin said today the plant was the first foreign investment from Malaysia into Sri Lanka under the current government led by Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena.
She told Bernama that HOSB entered into a partnership with the National Oil Company of Sri Lanka, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) in 2008 to manufacture, supply and promote CPC's brand of lubricants for the Sri Lankan market.
"'Supply of the lubricants has been from our Malaysian plant in Klang, Selangor. Due to the success in the marketing of the lubricants, HOSB entered into the second phase of our collaboration with CPC, of which HOSB is to construct and operate a manufacturing plant in Sri Lanka.
"The construction of the plant commenced in 2016 and we are pleased to announce the completion of our plant in Sri Lanka," Hazimah said.
Incorporated in 1991, HOSB produces quality lubricants and other petroleum derivatives that are successfully marketed and supplied to more than 35 countries worldwide.
