SHAH ALAM, June 13 (Bernama) -- Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd aims to rake in revenue of between RM150 million and RM200 million from information technology (IT)-related services this year.
Group chief executive officer Datuk Dr Ir Mohd Karim Abdullah said IT would be an important division to boost the energy services group's earnings moving forward, with several programmes in the pipeline for this financial year ending Dec 31, 2019 (FY19).
"We have set up the entire network and infrastructure to position our IT capabilities globally. We have also set up an innovation lab in India Institute of Technology in Chennai and have managed to attract a pool of professionals from the industry and from other related parties in India," he told a press conference today to announce the Beyond Paradigm Summit 2019 organised by the group next month.
In the first four months of this year, the group achieved total sales of RM25 million through IT services.
“While the core businesses of Serba Dinamik are operation and maintenance and EPCC (engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning), we believe that the company needs to have IT capabilities to strengthen its competitiveness," said Karim.
He noted that the group had also established a subsidiary in Silicon Valley, the United States, under its wholly-owned subsidiary Serba Dinamik IT Solutions Sdn Bhd (SDIT).
In December 2018, SDIT acquired 30 per cent of IT solutions provider eNoah iSolution India Pvt Ltd for RM15 million as part of the group’s expansion into the tech sector. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia then, Serba Dinamik said the acquisition would allow the group to widen its geographical footprint, as eNoah had presence in countries such as India, Australia, the United States and Singapore.
Karim said the company had earmarked RM30 million for the execution of existing and upcoming IT-related projects for FY19. To-date, about RM13 million has been spent.
The group's IT-related services division will target institutional clients and the public by offering, for example, a cashless payment system which is tied to parking technology.
"We are coming up with apps which will be useful for every individual in the world. We are tapping into geographical network positioning that we have build where we have our operations on in the Middle East, Central Asia and Southeast Asia," he added.
Meanwhile, Karim said Serba Dinamik would organise Beyond Paradigm Summit 2019 in Kuala Lumpur between July 17 and July 18 and at Pullman Kuching Hotel from July 20 to July 21.
The summit will showcase advanced technologies encapsulating the core ideas of digitalisation and data exchange surrounding Industrial Revolution 4.0 which will be officiated by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The summit will also feature social humanoid robot, Sophia, created by Hanson Robotics of Hong Kong.
