KPDNHEP N. Sembilan seizes three tanker lorries with LPG

PORT DICKSON, May 23 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) seized three lorry tankers loaded containing Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) during a raid at a premise here, yesterday. 

State KPDNHEP Enforcement Chief Johary Yacob said in the 7.15pm raid, checks found that operators of the premise had violated Section 20(1) of the Supplies Control Act for transferring gas, which is a controlled item, to an unlicensed location without the approval of the Controller. 

“We also seized nine original copies of delivery orders and three tanker lorries containing LPG gas with a total capacity of 20,000 kilogrammes valued at RM411, 200. 

"We are investigating and will make sure those responsible will be charged in court,” he told reporters here today. 

On the modus operandi, Johary said the perpetrators will first collect the gas from depos before unloading a tonne each time until there is enough to sell them to illegal market operators, who make very high profits from the illegal sales.

Individuals, upon conviction, are liable to be fined up to RM1 million or a maximum three years in jail or both, while organisations can be fined up to RM2 million.
