Malakoff unit in 21-year REPPA with TNB

KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 (Bernama) -- Malakoff Corporation Bhd (MCB) subsidiary Green Biogas Sdn Bhd (GBSB) has entered into a renewable energy power purchase agreement (REPPA) with Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB).

Malakoff said GBSB will sell to TNB electricity generated from its proposed 2.4 Megawatt Sungai Kachur biogas power plant in Kota Tinggi, Johor.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, it said that GBSB participated in a competitive feed-in tariff e-bidding exercise and submitted its bid for the project on Nov 30, 2018.

“The government, through the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (SEDA), had announced on Jan 29, 2019 that it had accepted GBSB’s bid as one of the successful bids,” it said in a statement today.

It said that pursuant to the above and as required by SEDA, GBSB has entered into the REPPA with TNB for the sale of energy generated from the project to TNB for a period of 21 years.

“The REPPA regulates and governs the rights and obligations of TNB and GBSB in relation to the project,” it said.

The project is expected to have no material impact on the earnings and net assets of MCB Group for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2019.
